Bloomington, Ill. – Feb. 20, 2019– When it comes to school safety, students, teachers, administrators and parents have to work together to build a comprehensive district-wide security plan. Including proactive initiatives focused on social emotional learning is essential for maximizing school safety. Plus, strong communication between all parties involved can help to support even the most complex students, ensuring a successful safety plan for the whole district.

On Thursday, March 7,at noon EST, guest speaker Dr. Joe Erardi will present an informative, free webinar on “Why High Yield Social Emotional Learning Programs are Essential to Your District.” The webinar –– hosted by Gaggle and the National School Boards Association (NSBA)–– will focus on the importance of high-level partnerships pertaining to safety, the critical need to have K-12 social emotional learning programming understood by all within the district, and the best practices to reach these goals.  The webinar will be moderated by NSBA’s Executive Director and CEO, Thomas Gentzel.

Dr. Erardi is a retired superintendent from Newtown, Connecticut, who has been recognized as the outstanding school superintendent in Connecticut in 2017 and school administrator of the year in 2016. In this webinar, he will share lessons learned from the December 2012 Sandy Hook School tragedy and provide educators with actionable ideas to help ensure safety within their own districts. Presently, Dr. Erardi coordinates the American Association School Administrators safety website and has served as an executive board member of AASA for three years.
