Bloomington, Ill. – April 30, 2020 – Today’s students are experiencing an unprecedented shift in their academic lives. In response to the pandemic, schools all over the country have closed their doors, forcing more than 55 million students to learn from home. Distance learning can be challenging and isolating for students, whose routines are interrupted and who may feel disconnected from friends and teachers. This stressful time can have a negative impact on students’ mental health and well-being, and it can be difficult for teachers to identify and respond to these struggles without face-to-face interaction and on-campus resources available.

On Wednesday, May 6 at 4:00 p.m. EST, a panel of adolescent mental health and K-12 education leaders will present a free informative webinar on “Happy and Healthy at Home: Student Mental Health and Distance Learning.” The webinar––sponsored by and hosted by Gaggle––will focus on the “new normal” of distance learning and how educators can keep students safe and connected while they learn at home.

K-12 market specialist and writer Annie Galvin Teich will lead the webinar, guiding the discussion and ensuring valuable insights from all panelists. The panel is comprised Dr. Lisa Strohman, a clinical psychologist with over a decade of experience working with adolescents to address mental health and well-being, along with district superintendents Dr. Enfield, Dr. Leonard, and Dr. Muñoz.
