DERRY, N.H. – Feb. 24, 2020 – Middle school students will be gathering at Sunrise Mountain High School on Feb. 29 for the final round of the Mountain Region 2019 Cyber Robotics Coding Competition (CRCC), being held by the Intelitek STEM and CTE Education Foundation (ISCEF). The final round is a live, in-person, one-day event in which two student representatives from each finalist school will compete in the execution of robotics and programming challenges. The event will begin at 9:00 a.m.

Working as a team, the students from each finalist school will be challenged to complete advanced coding missions under a time constraint. As with the previous tournament rounds, competitors will undertake their missions on the award-winning CoderZ Cyber Robotics Learning Environment, a cloud-based platform that features a graphical simulation of LEGO Mindstorms EV3 robots. Student competitors between 5th and 9th grade will activate a virtual robot––or “cyber robot” –– via the coding interface and watch the results of their programming in a real-time simulation.

CRCC judges will evaluate the teams’ total score as well as other variables, including time to complete, number of missions attempted and completed, team strategy, and quality of code. Special guests, including professionals, college students, and graduate students will attend the state final to speak with students, educators and families about their STEM/STEAM experiences and STEM/STEAM-related study and career opportunities.

The virtual competition stated in Fall 2019 across the nation with over 40,000 students competing. Nevada is the last of the 10 regional face-to-face finals’ events. The CRCC Spring 2020 competition begins on Feb. 24, 2020.
