New York district picks Tarkan Ceng

The Jefferson Central School Board of Education has announced the appointment of Dr. Tarkan Ceng as superintendent of schools. The board approved Ceng’s appointment at a board meeting held on February 25, according to a media release.

Ceng will replace Brian Corey, who became superintendent of Red Creek Central School earlier this year.

Ceng comes to Jefferson from New Paltz Central School District, where he was employed as an elementary principal, the release said. He earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from SUNY New Paltz and a master’s degree in instructional technology from the New York Institute of technology. He received his school district administrator certificate through Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and his doctorate in educational leadership from The Sage Colleges. He and his family live in Sharon Springs.
