New Jersey district picks Diana Mitchell
The Plainfield Board of Education announced today the appointment of veteran educator and public school administrator, Dr. Diana Mitchell, as Superintendent of Plainfield Public Schools.
“It’s with great pleasure that we welcome Dr. Mitchell to the Plainfield Public School District. The Plainfield Board of Education is excited to have a leader with Dr. Mitchell’s educational proficiency,” said Board President Richard Wyatt. “Dr. Mitchell’s philosophies on quality education and tangible outcomes throughout her years of experience in similar districts are highly impressive. More importantly, she is looking to serve our community for years to come, and that’s the type of stability we need. I am confident Dr. Mitchell will be a great asset to our district, providing clear direction for our administrators and staff on how to improve and deliver a quality education for all of our young scholars.”
Prior to coming to the Plainfield Public School District, Dr. Mitchell served as Superintendent for Dorchester County Public Schools (MD). Dr. Mitchell also served as the assistant superintendent for Instructional Technology with Harrison School District 2 in Colorado Springs (CO). Dr. Mitchell brings more than 28 years of experience proudly serving students and families in public education. She began her career as a business education teacher in Maryland. During her 19-year career with the Prince George’s County Public Schools, she served as a high school teacher, assistant principal, elementary and middle school principal, and area instructional specialist supporting K-12 schools. Dr. Mitchell has a diverse background in teaching and learning, data management, professional development, budgeting, and instructional technology/assessment management.
