Monte Alto ISD names choice for new superintendent

The Monte Alto Independent School District Board of Trustees named Rosalinda Cobarrubias the lone finalist for the superintendent position from a pool of over 30 applicants across the state.

The district will now enter a 21-day waiting period before approving her contract, which is in accordance with state law. The previous superintendent, Richard Rivera, recently took the helm as interim superintendent at the Edcouch-Elsa school district in early July.

“ Monte Alto ISD is excited to invite Dr. Cobarrubias to be part of our community. We are confident that she will lead Monte Alto ISD into its next chapter as a unifying force while serving our students and our community with vision and dignity,” board president Connie Villanueva said in a news release Tuesday. “We welcome Dr. Cobarrubias to Monte Alto ISD with open arms and are confident our community will be proud of this decision.”
