Delivering tech and business news to classrooms

Cheddar, the leading post cable networks company, and Discovery Education, the leading provider of digital curriculum resources, digital content, and professional development for K-12 classrooms, launched CheddarK-12, a new collaboration delivering the latest technology and business news to educators and students nationwide. Through this new partnership, Cheddar’s relevant, real world content will be integrated into Discovery Education’s award-winning Techbook Series,simplifying educators’ efforts to integrate current events into classroom instruction.

CheddarK-12’s standards-aligned content includes a weekly compilation of educationally-relevant technology and business news briefings broadcast from the New York Stock Exchange floor. This content will be initially accessible from each Discovery Education Techbook user’s personal MyDE page and will also include lesson starters and strategies for teachers to help them readily incorporate current events into lessons and activities. In the coming months, additional CheddarK-12 content will be added to Discovery Education’s series of Techbooks.

The Social Studies Techbookuses an inquiry-based instructional approach that emphasizes informational text literacy, analytical writing, and problem-solving skills that students will apply in the classroom and beyond.
