Construction Watch: Virginia district’s school building costs mushroom

 

Virginia’s Richmond School Board wants an outside review of how much it will cost to rebuild and renovate city schools after learning the district needs $30 million more than expected to replace three outdated schools. Read more.

Three phases of a nearly $115.67 million construction plan were approved by voters in Delaware’s Capital School District. The campaign asked voters to approve the building of and the provision for additional upgrades to two new middle schools; the transformation of a middle school into an elementary school; and the addition of funds to support ongoing district operations and expenses. Read more.

After a $2 billion school construction bill stalled in the Maryland Senate at the end of the 2019 legislative session, Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski Jr. said new school buildings on the county’s wish list will be delayed at least a year. Read more.
