Companies join forces in new partnership to support teachers

September 4, 2019 | The Danielson Group/Teaching Channel

Charlotte Danielson, Teaching Channel and The Danielson Group have partnered to launch products and services designed to improve instructional practice for all teachers. A series of online personalized learning plans, based on the new Charlotte Danielson Framework for Teaching Clusters, will be embedded in the Teaching Channel Plus platform.

Collaboratively, the two organizations set out to create a flexible tool that allowed districts to personalize professional learning and increase access to strategies, proven to improve student academic outcomes. Educators partake in a Framework for Teaching Clusters Inventory to determine their areas of strength and development based on the six Danielson FFT Clusters. The results are used to provide them with a customized roadmap for appropriate learning plans, including coaching through the Teaching Channel Plus video observation tool and guidance in implementing their newly acquired skills within their classrooms. All learning can be conducted independently or within a blended group environment.

Charlotte Danielson identified six Clusters that support teacher growth and student learning: clarity and accuracy, learning environment, classroom management, intellectual engagement, successful learning, and professionalism. “I developed the Clusters to complement the Framework for Teaching,” said Charlotte Danielson, Founder of The Danielson Group, “The Clusters distill the big ideas of the Framework’s four domains and 22 components into an efficient tool that can serve as the foundation for professional growth through reflection, conversation, and engaged learning by teachers.”

The FFT Clusters align to and represent the big ideas of the Framework for Teaching. “The Danielson Group is focused on ensuring that educators have access to tools that support them in better serving students,” said Jim Furman, Executive Director of The Danielson Group, “This collaborative effort between Teaching Channel and The Danielson Group brings that access to a new level and represents our best effort to distill the complexity of teaching into a practical resource that is completely focused on learning, growth, and development.”

Guy Harrington, President of The Teaching Channel believes school success is amplified by offering The Frameworks for Teaching Clusters developed by Charlotte Danielson on the Teaching Channel Plus platform, “Professional growth happens when teachers have personalized professional development, participate in professional learning communities, and access to a great coach or mentor.” Harrington continues, “Through our innovative partnership with Charlotte Danielson and The Danielson Group, a highly respected education leader, we provide the tools and resources that deliver high quality professional development and learning experiences across the country.”
