Raising math achievement for English learners
The Council of Great City Schools and LAUSD estblished a nationwide “bench of contracts” with Imagine Learning, Inc. and two other publishers who have met the Council’s quality criteria for EL math materials. Other school districts can now also use these contracts to purchase vetted materials to support teachers of English learners.
New partnership delivers targeted literacy instruction
Lexia Learning and MetaMetrics announced the addition of Lexile measures for all students who have completed the Lexia RAPID Assessment (RAPID). Lexile reader measures are now available via the class table and the district and school exports in the myLexia data reporting platform for educators.

Science from Scientists has announced the Amgen biotechnology company as a pilot STEMissaries partner. Amgen and its Amgen Foundation will participate in active, long-term partnerships to support the local community and engage elementary and middle school children directly in their classrooms.

Building instructional coaching programs
EdTechTeam's Dynamic Learning Project, developed with support from Google and Digital Promise, helps school systems build and strengthen instructional coaching programs. The program addresses issues of technology use, equity and career readiness in schools through a challenge-based model.
Three new toys provide STEM activities
The POWERUP 4.0 is a propulsion motor that adapts to almost any paper airplane design and transforms it into a flying machine. On land, the POWERUP RACERS Motorized Origami Vehicles transform a paper creation into a motorized car, boat or airplane. With OKO Multi View, a smartphone’s camera can be turned into an augmented reality tool or binoculars.
New hybrid professional development model released
The core concepts are delivered online by Flipped Learning Global Initiative, a curator of Flipped Learning best practices. Educators' access the content via short videos on their own time and pace. This is followed by practical application delivered by certified on-site facilitators who customize and localize immersive hands-on workshops and support.
Kansas City Public Schools links schools and nonprofits
Social Solutions Global, in partnership with Ballmer Group, announced that Kansas City Public Schools joined their national initiative to allow districts and local nonprofit organizations to share data for increased program integration, collaboration and support for students.
