CoSN is now accepting nominations for the association's 2013 Withrow Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Award and TEAM Award, which annually recognize an individual and a team, respectively, who have demonstrated exceptional technology leadership in K-12 education. Winners will be celebrated at the CoSN 2013 conference on March 10-13, 2013, in San Diego, CA.

Amazon.com Inc announced an initiative on Wednesday to get its Kindle e-readers and tablet computers into schools, entering a market that has been particularly successful for rival Apple Inc and its iPad device.

Within a few months, each of Henrico County (Va.) Public Schools’ 13 magnet schools will have a fully automated application process, thanks to two high school interns who built the software program this past summer.

As K12 education becomes more interconnected to videos, photos, software and Internet offerings for project-based learning and other lessons, there is a great need for schools not to only have access to broadband but also to have enough broadband to keep up with the array of new tools used in class.
