Now that some time has passed since the school massacre in Newtown, Conn., perhaps it is time to reflect on what actions our schools might look forward to in 2013 and beyond.

All district schools in Steubenville, Ohio -- center of a highly charged teen rape case -- were under precautionary lockdown for about 90 minutes Tuesday because of a shooting threat made on social media, WTOV-TV reports.

Dallas ISD has long assigned police officers to its secondary schools. Now, in the wake of the shooting deaths of 20 schoolchildren in Connecticut, the district’s 150 elementary schools will have a police presence.

In the wake of last week’s deadly school shooting in Connecticut, Miami-Dade police have arrested a 16-year-old student at Miami Lakes Educational Center who threatened on Twitter to “shoot up this school this Friday.”
