Wis. Schools See Growth As Students Move from District to District

School districts are seeing their student numbers grow.

That’s an important trend because the numbers are crucial to state aid districts receive as well as districts’ efforts to make the case for tax dollars to create new facilities or make improvements to their existing infrastructure.

A big factor in those numbers is open enrollment, which allows students living in one district to attend school in another. Wisconsin extended the open enrollment application period from one month to three months starting in spring, giving families more time to consider changing districts.
