The Sweet Home (Ore.) School District is looking at a big schedule change, they're switching to a four-day school week.
School board members in Sweet Home voted 5-3 on Monday to switch from the 5-day school week they currently have, to a 4-day school week.
The Sweet Home School District will be facing more than $1 million dollar budget shortfall next year.
By changing to a four-day school week, administrators hope to save around $340,000.
Classes will run from Monday through Thursday, with an extra 45 to 50 minutes of instruction time during those days.
Fridays will be left open for staff training, which administrators say should improve overall instruction in the classroom.
"Our teachers are professionals, and if they get together and they collaborate, they can look at what's being done out there that's considered best practice, and then apply that to their craft, they're going to help each other," said Sweet Home Superintendent Don Schrader.
