State Early Education Program is Brightening Futures

It has been a year of firsts for the parents, students and staff at Our Future Child Care.

The center held parent-teacher conferences every six months. It developed outside partnerships, including a visit from staff at the duPont Environmental Education Center, which lead teacher Brenda Maddox says the hands-on training improved her lessons.

 

The child care center, located on the city’s northeast side, is one of an increasing number of programs taking part in the Delaware Stars for Early Success system, which rates the services and provides technical assistance.

It has been hard work but worth it, said center owner Thelma Jamison. Most of the children come from families of modest means, and a quality education will help lift them to a better life.
