St. Joseph Title 1 Schools in Missouri May Get iPads for Students

Five months after beginning a pilot project to put computers in the hands of students, the St. Joseph School District might expand the program.

The school board’s curriculum/instruction and assessment committee met Monday evening and decided to ask the board to approve spending money saved by utilizing federal stimulus dollars to purchase iPads for all its Title 1 schools.

In January, the district issued MacBook laptops to students at Benton High School and Bode Middle School, and iPads to Lindbergh and Edison elementary school students. If the board approves the measure on May 14, students at Mark Twain, Humboldt, Hall, Lake Contrary, Hosea and Noyes would receive iPads next school year.
