Sandy Hook Students, Staff Likely to Return to Monroe

Superintendent of Schools Janet Robinson said Tuesday that Sandy Hook Elementary School probably cannot find another home by the start of the next school year as suitable as the former Chalk Hill Middle School in Monroe.

The vacant middle school was offered to Newtown after the Dec. 14 shootings, and has for now been renamed Sandy Hook Elementary to provide continuity for students, parents and staff.

No formal decision has been made about whether Sandy Hook students will return to Chalk Hill for the 2013-14 school year.

"Monroe couldn't be better hosts,'' Robinson said after Tuesday night's school board meeting.
