The superintendent of a five-town midcoast school district has been hired by the Rangeley Lakes Regional School District.

Susan Pratt, who has led RSU 40 for two years, was hired by the Rangeley school board on Tuesday night, according to Board Vice Chairwoman Jennifer Farmer. Pratt will serve as Rangeley’s superintendent as well as the principal of its 200-student K12 school.

Pratt said Rangeley has a great little school system. She said Rangeley is close to her home and family. Pratt and her husband have a farm in Strong.

The RSU 40 board voted in December to extend Pratt’s contract for one year, through the 2014-2015 school board. She was also given a 2.5 percent raise for the upcoming school year, which would have brought her annual salary to $102,000.
