Teachers across the city do not feel adequately trained to prepare students for upcoming state exams aligned with new, more rigorous standards called Common Core, according to a survey conducted last month by the United Federation of Teachers.
Out of roughly 7,000 teachers questioned, nearly 80% said they have not received curriculum to teach the complex material, and about half said they had not received training.
Walter Rendon, a teacher at Public School 24 in Riverdale, said adjusting his curriculum four months before exams is difficult.
