The New Hampshire Senate Education Committee is weighing the House's version of a plan to give businesses a tax credit for donating to scholarship organizations to send students to private or public schools.
The committee is holding a public hearing on the bill Tuesday afternoon. Both chambers passed similar plans last month.
Under both bills, the donations would be funneled through organizations that provide scholarships up to $2,500 to start but would be adjusted annually. Home-schooled children could receive one-fourth of that limit for educational expenses.
The bills also attempt to target low- and middle-income students.
Supporters said the scholarships would give parents a choice for their children.
