Neighbors Want Michigan District to Maintain Closing School's Building

Residents and business owners near Washington Elementary School want to work with the Flint School District to ensure the school doesn’t become an eyesore and a spot for criminal activity.

Washington Elementary is one of four schools to close at the end of the year in an effort to get the Flint School District out of its $11.5 million deficit.

The school, at 1400 N. Vernon Ave., is in the middle of the Washington Neighborhood Association and the East Side Business Association.
