More Ill. Schools Failing to Make AYP on Test Scores

The number of school districts meeting benchmarks imposed by the federal No Child Left Behind legislation continues to worsen in West-Central Illinois and across the state.

Illinois school report cards released today show that 16 of the 18 school districts in Adams, Pike, Hancock and Brown counties, including the Quincy School District, failed to make adequate yearly progress on state tests in 2012. That's up from 15 in 2011, 13 in 2010 and six in 2009.

It's a similar story statewide, according to the Illinois State Board of Education.
