After taking home eight medals in state competition last month, Career Tech Education students from Central Baldwin Middle School are gearing up for the national competition.

Students in the Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) program at CBMS brought home one bronze and seven silver medals from the state S.T.A.R. (Students Taking Action with Recognition) competition, which was held March 8 and 9 at Auburn University at Montgomery.

“We are so proud of them,” said Dawn Hopper, Family Consumer Sciences Career Tech Education teacher who oversees the FCCLA program at CBMS. “I think they did really well.”

Four of the silver medal winners received recognition to represent Alabama at the 2012 National Leadership Conference, which will be held July 8-12 in Orlando, Fla.
