Middle school students are earning high-tech certificates

If you needed more proof kids are getting better and better with technology, look no further than Murdock Middle School, part of the Charlotte County Public Schools in Port Charlotte, Fla.

Students there are earning the same certificates as professionals working in the industry.

In its first year, a pilot program is exceeding expectations.

With each click of a mouse and each new slide in their PowerPoint presentations, middle school students are preparing for their futures.

"It will help us in the future now, instead of waiting to do it," says David Ford, a 7th grade student at Murdock Middle School.

He doesn't know what his career will be, but he says computers will be involved.

Now, he's learning the skills and earning the certificates to prepare him for anything.
