K12 Ed Reforms Submitted in Virginia

Parents of school-age children in Richmond, Henrico and Chesterfield should know that the Virginia Association of School Superintendents have presented their Blueprint for the Future of Public Education to the State board of Education.

It has the support of all 133 Superintendents in the state and focused on five primary areas of reform. The stated goal of the blueprint is to have all students career and/or college ready at graduation.

Five Strategic Areas

  • Curriculum/Readiness
  • Assessment
  • Instructional Delivery
  • Human Capital
  • State's role in funding public education

The plan's recommendations will have a direct impact on your children and the educational process. As was generally expected, the plan calls for holding teachers accountable for student's progress. This is further laid out in the changes made in the new revised teacher evaluation guidelines recently approved by the state board of education.
