The Together Counts initiative is a national campaign that promotes active, healthy living through energy balance – balancing the calories we consume with the calories we burn. The program focuses its efforts on two critical areas – families and schools. It provides tips, tools and incentives for parents, teachers and school health professionals to use in encouraging energy balance.

"The Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation is dedicated to providing critical resources to students and schools with the greatest need,” said Lisa Gable, president, Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation. “We are pleased to see our incentives drive real change in communities across the country, due in large part to the leadership of teachers, administrators and students in encouraging active, healthy habits in the classroom. "

“Discovery Education is committed to the fight against childhood obesity and impassioned about offering tools and resources that can help make healthy living a priority for parents, students and teachers alike,” said Mary Rollins, vice president of corporate education partnerships at Discovery Education.  “Discovery Education is thrilled to be able to work with the Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation and our other partners to award prizes that reinforce the importance of achieving healthy lifestyles through energy balance.”
