As the eighth largest school district in the nation, Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) provides a wealth of educational opportunities for students and families that range from Head Start to adult education programs within traditional public, magnet, private and charter schools. In addition, further opportunities are available for diverse populations focused on special education, vocational education, as well as International Baccalaureate programs.
In the fall of 2010, HCPS introduced myON reader to Title I elementary schools. Enthusiasm for the online library of digital books quickly spread beyond the district. As interest and usage of myON reader continued to grow, local community groups expressed a desire to expand access to digital books and boost reading interest among all children and students in Hillsborough County.
