Georgia district construction in final stage

Classrooms are quiet and halls dark at most Walker County schools, but not at Saddle Ridge Elementary and Middle School where construction continues at a fast and furious pace.

Construction of the county’s newest school began in April 2012 and work on the building should be finished in time for the upcoming school year.

Subcontractors are working 12-hour shifts to meet completion deadlines and Wendy Ingram, who will be Saddle Ridge’s first principal, said a “substantial completion date” is set for July 15.

After that, it is only a matter of touch-ups and passing final inspections before the school’s official opening, according to school system officials.
