FSSD Administrator Picked for State Education Council

Sharon Cooksey, a facilitator for curriculum and professional learning in the Franklin Special School District, has been tapped to join the Common Core Leadership Council, a group that will advise the state department of education on a transition plan for setting student benchmarks.

Thirteen administrators from across the state are a part of the council. They will tackle formal and informal assessments and professional development resources; shape the framework for all Common Core pilot programs; and become regional experts and leaders in the importance and concrete expectations of the standards. They also will select and train educators to facilitate summer training on common core implementation in July.
