Franklin (Tenn.) School Board Officially Opposes Vouchers, State Approval of Charter Schools

There seems to be more questions than answers when it comes to the use of vouchers and the authorization of charter schools in the Franklin Special School District.

Nevertheless, Williamson County’s urban district school board unanimously approved two resolutions Monday that oppose the use of vouchers and any legislation that would change the local school board’s authority to authorize charter schools.

Director of Schools David Snowden presented each resolution explaining that the documents come from the Tennessee School Boards Association and are in a sense preemptive as talk about vouchers and the power over creating charter schools is certain to come up during the 2013 state legislative assembly.
