Former CEO's Group Pushes for Reducing Iowa Education Gap

Mark M. Jacobs once was a Fortune 500 CEO and soon may be a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate, but for the time being he’s leading a nonprofit group pushing for improvements in K-12 for Iowa’s education system.

Jacobs and his group, Reaching Higher Iowa, held a forum Wednesday at the World Food Prize Hall of Laureates billed as a “conversation on closing the achievement gap.”

The forum featured Gov. Terry Branstad and included administrators from Des Moines and Council Bluffs who have presided over improvements in high-poverty schools as well as representatives from national groups like Teach for America.
