Carey Wright named new Mississippi State Superintendent of Education

Dr. Carey Wright has been named Mississippi's new State Superintendent of Education, the Mississippi Board of Education announced Wednesday.

Wright, a 36-year veteran of teaching and school administration, is the founder and CEO of Wright Approach Consulting in Maryland.

Wright will assume her new duties on Nov. 1. She was chosen from a group of five finalists who were interviewed Sept. 24. There were 11 semifinalists for the position from several states, including Mississippi, Georgia, Massachusetts, Missouri, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin.
