ASCD, the international education leadership association, announced today new benefits available to current and future members as part of a yearlong rollout of new member perks and benefits during the association's "membership means more" campaign.

"ASCD is committed to meeting the varied needs of a diverse audience by targeting and refocusing our membership to better meet the needs of school and district leaders," said Dr. Gene R. Carter, CEO and Executive Director of ASCD. "ASCD can have a more effective impact on education by developing targeted resources and enhanced benefits for educators."

The first benefit announced during the "membership means more" campaign is insurance at competitive group rates. ASCD will be offering its membership 15 different individual insurance products, including the membership benefit of:

  • Professional Liability: $1 million coverage in Educators Professional Liability Insurance Plan
  • Life: Group Term Life, Group Accidental Death and Dismemberment, and Group Disability Income Protection Insurance from New York Life
  • Home and Auto: GEICO Auto, Motorcycle, and Boat Insurance; Homeowners, Condo/Co-op, and Renters Insurance

In addition, ASCD Premium members will now receive ASCD In-Dues Professional Liability Plan Coverage as a benefit that is paid for by ASCD. During the month of September, Premium members will receive a communication with full details, including an insurance certificate.

"ASCD members were asking for a professional liability insurance plan as part of their membership, and we’re delivering it," said Bonnie Kasander, Director of Membership at ASCD. “We’ll be rolling out new benefits throughout the upcoming fiscal year, and I can't wait to share them with you. This is proof that yet again, with today's ASCD, your membership means more."
