ASCD, the global leader in providing programs, products, and services that empower educators to support the success of each learner, announces the release of two new PD In Focus® videos and three new PD Online®courses. These new resources address a variety of topics important to educators today, including instructional leadership, formative assessment, and Common Core State Standards implementation.

The PD In Focus online application is an award-winning, cost-effective, web-based professional development tool from ASCD that provides hundreds of hours of highly effective videos, related resources, activities, and insight from some of the most important voices in education today.

ASCD’s more than 100 PD Online courses use multimedia and digital content to meet the individualized professional development needs of almost any type or size of learning group, ranging from individual learners to statewide deployments and integration with university programs.

The new videos added to the PD In Focus tool are

  • ASCD Master Class: Student Achievement with Yvette Jackson and Veronica McDermott
  • ASCD Master Class: Instructional Leadership with Mike Schmoker

The new courses added to the PD Online catalog are

  • Formative Assessment and the Common Core Standards: English Language Arts/Literacy
  • Formative Assessment and the Common Core Standards: Mathematics
  • Including Students with Disabilities in the Common Core

“The PD In Focus and PD Online professional development resources are excellent examples of how ASCD is leveraging technology to connect educators worldwide to the most innovative thinkers in education,” said ASCD Executive Director and CEO Dr. Gene R. Carter. “We are pleased to offer these new, high-quality resources, and we will continue to provide the timely professional development materials educators require to meet the varying needs of today’s students.”

Attendees at ASCD's 2013 Annual Conference and Exhibit Show, held March 16–18, at McCormick Place in Chicago, Ill., will be able to test both the PD In Focus and PD Online resources in the ASCD Center located at the back of the show’s exhibit hall. In the ASCD Center, ASCD staff will provide attendees with overviews and in-depth reviews of the innovative programs, products, and services that support educators as they learn, teach and lead.

Visitors to the ASCD Center can also browse the latest books and DVDs in the ASCD Bookstore, meet some of their favorite authors and learn to use the online ASCD School Improvement Tool in the ASCD Whole Child Theater. In addition, the award-winning acting ensemble Wavelength will employ humor and improvisation to satirize and celebrate one of the biggest issues in education: the Common Core State Standards.

For more information about these activities, conferences attendees should visit the ASCD Center during the association’s upcoming Annual Conference.
