Alabama School District Closing Achievement Gaps

Enterprise City School System is showing promise of closing the achievement gap between black and white students and poverty and non-poverty students, according to released date explained Tuesday by the school system’s Testing and Accountability Coordinator Dixie Lavender.

Lavender met with the Enterprise City Schools Board of Education and guests Tuesday during a regular session to explain the details of a study recently released by the Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama.

PARCA released the data Oct. 15 to the school system and indicated the Enterprise City School System was one of only four systems statewide with 100 percent of its students who scored Level IV on the Alabama Reading and Math test in grades third through eighth, achieving one or more points above the state benchmark.
